Promise Yourself. A Blog Mindset

Posted by Mark Ayers on Dec 30, 2008 in Blog, Blog marketing, Blogging, Optimist International, The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself —

  • To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
  • To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
  • To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
  • To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
  • To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
  • To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
  • To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
  • To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
  • To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
  • To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble

The Optimist Creed from Optimist International. Who adapted these words from the late Christian D. Larson

How your blog can reach roughly 70 out of 100 people!

Posted by Mark Ayers on Dec 26, 2008 in Blog, How to creat great content, John Graden, Learning how to blog

Does your niche include 70% of the world’s population? If not would you like it to?

Do you think you could find a way to blog and reach them? I think you can and that is just what I am doing today. Blogging in a way to reach them, you know that is a big audience.

I have an interest in the human mind, how it works and how we as people operate. And when I find a statistic that states nearly 70% of the world’s population does anything I am interested. What is it I am referring to in this post? In one form or another roughly 70% of us suffers from the Impostor Syndrome the feeling of “I am a fake”.

I know I can write in such a way that provides a solution to that large segment of the world. I am not trying to solve all the world’s problems, just a few for the roughly 70% that feel like success is not okay for them, for the ones who feel like they may be exposed as a fraud- a fake at some point. For the one’s who have a hard time taking credit for success or even a simple Thank You to praise, for those of you that feel that others think you are more capable than you think you are.

That all may be the truth in your mind and in the minds of the vast majority of people out there, but don’t let it stop you. Shortcomings are there to keep us humble, to be overcome and to thrive in the face of.

If you feel inadequate in any way about blogging then say to yourself, I get that is how I feel AND I have something to say and then say it anyway.

Blogs are excellent ways for you to voice yourself, for you to just be you and have a say so in the matter of your life. And when you do you will find your words will resonate with other people in a way that they will want to come back to your blog and read it, subscribe to your feeds and maybe blog about you, even become a customer of yours if that is your goal.

So as you write your blog remember that nearly 70% of your audience feels inadequate to some degree and when you can write to help them overcome “The Impostor Syndrome” or live effectively with these feeling you can not only help them along the way but also build trust for yourself with them.

People like and do business with people they trust.

Fake it till you make it or take on a way of being that empowers you to excel despite the overwhelming evidence you have created for yourself that says you are less than. And next join the crowd of us that feel just like that at one point or the other in our lives and do it anyway.

Ask yourself when you write:

  • In what way will this impact my reader’s life?
  • Who is my audience?
  • What are they looking for?
  • When do they want it or when will this be a solution for them?
  • Where in their life will this impact them?
  • Why is my solution the solution for them?
  • How will this solve problems?

It is all mindset; from content, to reaching your audience, to selling your products and services.
